Choose the Right Roof

Commercial roofs do not come in a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, a building’s characteristics and use often dictate which roofing system is most appropriate.

When determining which roofing system is right for you, consider the following factors:

  • Location – Attributes of the surrounding area including building codes, weather trends, topography and the direction the building faces
  • Physical Characteristics – The building’s age, size, shape, design and height, as well as whether the facility is new or an existing structure
  • Construction Materials – The materials used to build the facility (wood, steel, brick, etc.) and the types of HVAC and fire protection equipment present
  • Roof Attributes – Size, slope, shape, deck construction, edge detailing, protrusions, rooftop access and the existing roofing system
  • Usage – The building’s purpose, occupancy, insulation requirements, aesthetic priorities and maintenance schedule
  • Green Factor – The desire to gain LEED® certification credits or meet ENERGY STAR® design targets
  • Renewability – The ease at which materials can be replaced at the end of the warranty period
  • Recyclability – Whether the materials can be recycled or downcycled when the roof needs to be replaced
